ouchie

we have to get a new roof put on our home. it currently is a 25+ year old wood shake roof, and the insurance companies won't even talk to us about coverage until we do. we just got bids in to replace it with a tile roof. does anyone out there have a spare $25,000 i can have?

I've got the 25K but I doubt if you can handle the juice. And I'd hate to have to hurt you. :-)

Any chance at a cheaper roof style, like plain old shingles? That sounds a little, um, high...

yes, there are cheaper alternatives. but the cheapest was $15K for composition shingles. check out this post with pictures. now doesn't that house just scream for tiles?

i'll probably go for a sculptured shingle, and that's going to be around $18K. still ouchie

I do! I do!

Oh, wait. I just spent it on window shades, hardwood flooring and new, quality carpeting in this freaking brand-new spec house. Remind me never to buy one of these again. Olefin berber? What the hell were they thinking?

Go for the tiles. It'll add beauty and value to your home. And we can come up with tons of excellent recipes for rice and beans together, m'kay?

The new, Therm-O-Shield (lifetime no-maintenance) metal roofing could be a value. 1-888-712-4128. If you still want the $25k loan, however, "Sharky" on Rosecrans in San Diego could arrange one for you, if you make it through his initial "closing costs" session.
