it's not a tax, it's a fee
holy crap. i have a 15 year old motorcycle, and the registration fees we just paid went up 26% over last year. the bike is a year older, it's fuel efficient, and the fees went up 26 frigging percent?
no, we're not raising taxes here in kahleefornia, but by gum, we're getting smacked around like a punching bag with increased fees. only the last in a long line of hidden taxes i've noticed going up lately.
but thankfully we aren't getting hit with tax increases.

I noticed that one as well. My old VW's are getting quite expensive to register. I'll have to send a nice Thank You note to Arnold.
I just got whammoed for my auto... I had a come to jeebus meeting with my wife where I begged her to vote NO on 1A.

The infection isn't limited to California, Up here on the other end of the left coast, they are pushing the fees and increasing the taxes on the "Sin" goods, Liquor and smokes. There was even a proposal in the state house for a "Porn" tax. The fees for cars, permits, ad nasum have all increased dramatically.
They are doing everything they can to haul it out of our wallet and put in into the hands of air breathing, san tank filling non useful bodies.
I hate non qualified oxygen thieves.
