an interesting article by one of g.w.'s compatriots

Frontpage Magazine has an interesting article by a fellow flier of g.w.'s... this article was originally published in the washington times newspaper. it is posted here for any that are curious to read what the president's compatriot has to say. pretty interesting read. let me know what you think.

I read the article. Sounds like a rationalization to me. Read Molly Ivins coulumn today about how GW jumped the queue to get into this unit. I think he knew the odds were remote that he'd be called up. All of us who were of draftable age during the conflict knew the odds, we calculated them daily. This article is just more partisan chaff

yes, i suppose a columnist with an axe to grind does indeed carry much more weight and freight on the issue of national guard duty than a retired gaurd pilot does.

Once agasain Bo you miss the point. This guy is rationalizing his own experience. His axe to grind is that he probably bought his way into the guard so that he could fly sorties in obsolete fighters (incapable of missions in VietNam) over the gulf of Mexico protecting the shores of Texas and Alabama from missles launched by Mexican Fisherman and gulf coast shrimpers. I don't want to minimize this guy's service though, Sounds like he actually showed up and did his time.
