cat blog friday
anyway, i had to take this picture, because it made me laugh. we had the bugs over for the day, and Di took the boom box out to the back patio to play kiddy songs. it was funny as hell watching the little ones doing the "head, shoulders, knee and toes" dance. over and over. and over. but what was funnier was that sheba braved the little ones to come out from under the bush to sit in front of the boom box, and didn't leave until i finally had enough and turned it off. after the CD had been cycled through at least a dozen times. kind of felt sorry for our neighbors, but they are young and without children YET. i feel as though i am performing a public service, getting them acclimated to the "i love you" song by barney, and other such classics as "the farmer in the dell" . and sheba cat just sat, as though she were in a concert hall listening to Bach or Handel. weird cat

Wow, 18 huh? Yep, that's a pretty old cat alright. Do you use the hairball goop on her? My cat loves the stuff. Eats it right off the end of the tube. I had not given her any for a while and I stepped on a fresh hairball barefooted in the bathroom a few nights ago. That'll open your eyes.
I like the photo of her looking at the boombox, by the way.
Try using one of those grooming pads with the big soft rubber nubbies. They get a lot of hair off without sticking in the tangles.
Poor old kitty with the boom box. By 18 most cats are pretty deaf. Prob'ly all that sub woofing action makes her little ossified ear bones vibrate. Mmmm, feels good.
By your description of your cat, at 18, she's pretty aged. I'd just let her be and enjoy what time you have with her, like this momenet with the kids and the boombox.
momenet = moment. That's what I get for blogging 10 minutes after I get out of bed.
18 huh!
Ours isn't even 1 yet and I'm not so sure he will reach 2 if he doesn't stop scratching me and trying to get me up at 4 am by meowing until I get up and feed him. Yours is 18 huh? That must mean they move out of the scratching, bitin and meowing stage. And then there is the matter of the couch.
herb, i don't know about well cared for. sheba seems to thrive on neglect. perhaps neglect is too harsh a word. she's an outdoor kitty, because like you, i am alergic as hell to cats. and i am a dog person, through and through. but, until the two cats i have (one 18 and the other 16) travel off to kitty heaven, it will be a dog free zone around our house. i inherited one and married into the others family! it wasn't a problem before i moved, because the buttheads were living in the backyard, while the cats lived in the front. the buttheads are gone to doggie heaven, but the cats are definitely using every minute of all 9 lives.
that's ok, as long as my daughter doesn't adopt another cat, and then drop it off on my doorstep, i'll have a dog again sometime before i die.
